We are characterizing the mechanisms in which lanthanides affect metabolism of rhizosphere and phyllosphere microbial constituents, and the effect of lanthanide-dependent metabolism on plant growth. Our preliminary data suggest that bacterial lanthanide-biochemistry enhances growth of diverse crops.
