UNRAVELING THE LANTHANIDE DEPENDENT METABOLIC NETWORK
On a broader scale, we are using system-level approaches (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and 13C carbon flux studies) along with phenotypic studies of mutants, classic genetic approaches, and microscopic studies to dissect the metabolic network supporting growth when lanthanides are present. We are currently characterizing the mechanism that bacteria uses to sense, solubilize, transport, and store lanthanides.
